Canoeing, Fishing, and Cooking Out with Jack and "Stever"
July 12 and July 26 and 27
Oh the fun you can have in a weekend. From watching a Chihuahua hump a Rotweiler to jumping of a 30 foot tall rock into the river below. Cookout out on the grill and Bass fishing. It doesn't get any better. On July 12th some of the local friends got together up at Jack and Steve's in West Virginia for a great day of Canoeing on the Greenbrier River, Fishing in Steve's Bass pond, and cooking out at the house. We had such a great time, we did it again 2 weeks later. Both times we canoed about 6 miles down the river from Fort Mill to Aldersman. The trip took about 5 hours with stops to swim, eat, and jump off of Anvil Rock. The first weekend the water was very high from lots of rain, but by the second weekend, the river was much slower. The rope swing that we took advantage of the first weekend was in much too shallow water the second.
Both weekends the fishing in the bass pond was great, even though some of us need to brush up on our fishing skills. <grin> I got to put my new truck into four wheel drive for the first time trying to get through some mud in the pasture. The weekends ended up with excellent food from the grill.
We had a great time both weekends and maybe we'll get to do it again one more time before the weather gets too cold. If we don't... well hey... ski season is right around the corner
